Highwood Apartments, Inc. is a non-profit, 44-unit, one level apartment complex designed for seniors. We are located in Columbus, NC, just behind St. Luke’s Hospital and Hospice. Historic Tryon is nearby. This is an area where one is surrounded by beautiful mountains and active handsome horse farms, with cultural activities usually found only in large cities, but with the beauty and east of a rural environment.

• If you are age 62 or older, you may qualify for one of our lovely well-maintained one-bedroom apartments.

• Rent is based on income with Section 8 assistance thru HUD.

• Each apartment is all electric with stove and refrigerator provided.

• The apartments are carpeted in the living rooms and bedrooms with vinyl flooring in the kitchens and baths.

• The bathrooms have a full size tub with shower and grab-bars. Each apartment has a covered porch with convenient parking.

• The campus is fully connected with sidewalks and benches, has mature shade tree and flowers, and a walking and exercise trail adjoining the property with St. Luke’s Hospital and Hospice. Flower/vegetable gardening is encouraged.

Polk County Transportation Authority is available at a reasonable cost for residents whom may not drive. Hospital, physician’s offices, pharmacies, dentists, library, beauty and barber shops, grocery stores, convenience stores and restaurants are all located within two (2) miles. There is easy interstate (I-26) access to larger communities. Spartanburg, SC; Greenville, SC; Hendersonville, NC; and Asheville, NC are all within an easy 45 minute drive.
